The last few months have been wild! With recent events, we’ve been urged to have a three day supply of food and other supplies. This is a great time to update your 72-Hour Kit or put one together. We suggest adding a face mask to each one of your kits.

Face masks help reduce the spread of saliva and other secretions, lowering the risk that the wearer, if infected, will transmit a virus to other people. This is why it’s such a good idea to add a mask to your kit. You never know who might be in need of help during an emergency or if you will need help from someone.

SugarHouse has several different face mask options including masks for children. We highly recommend our stretch face mask that comes in a three-pack. Put one in your 72-Hour Kit, have one in your car and one at home.

You can see all of our Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) on our health website

For Students

Our junior stretch face masks are made out of a polyester/spandex blend fabric. It’s a no-sew design that attaches over the ears and three openings make it a one-size-fits-all mask. This is a lightweight mask that is machine washable and dryer-safe.

The regular stretch face masks will fit older students.

We also have junior face masks made from solution-dyed polyester. It features:

  • A water repellent shell that protects the wearer from other people’s secretions better than soft cotton masks.
  • A soft interior liner provides lightweight, comfortable protection.
  • The wearer can label their mask with their name or other identification.
  • These masks can be machine-washed and dried or cleaned with disinfecting cleaners without compromising their ability to repel liquids, aerosols, and sprays.

The regular washable face masks will fit older students.

For Teachers

Both our stretch face masks and washable face masks come in a size that fits adults as well.

A standard face shield is also a great idea for teachers including speech therapists or special education teachers.

Lightweight, anti-scratch clear vinyl provides full peripheral vision while still offering front and side face protection.

The foam headbands hold the shield away from the face, allowing it to rest lightly making it ideal for extended wear. Closed-cell polyethylene foam allows shields to be disinfected and reused as needed.

  • Protects eyes, nose, and mouth from aerosols, sprays, and splatter.
  • Wrap-around design provides protection to the front and sides of the face.
  • Can be worn over other face masks and eyeglasses.
  • Closed-cell polyethylene foam makes them highly resistant to chemicals and moisture.
  • Dimensions (flat): 13″ wide x 10″ tall.

For School Nurses

Gowns are open in the back with two fabric ties and elastic cuffs. They come in three different sizes: medium, large, and extra-large.

According to the FDA, there is currently a shortage of PPE gowns. A lot of hospitals in the U.S. have generally used single-use gowns. However, with the shortage, there is a need for reusable gowns. Our gowns are machine washable and dryer safe so you can reuse many times and won’t have to worry about replacing after one use. You can also spray and wipe down the gown in between washes.

There are many different types of isolation gowns with varying protection levels. Our gowns pass Levels 1, 2 & 3 of AAMI PB70:2012 Liquid Barrier Performance, which is recognized by the FDA, pursuant to testing standards outlined in ASTM F2407.

Healthcare & Food Workers to receive much needed help.

ExtenData, whose headquarters are based out of Centennial, CO, is an IT operation solutions company. Like so many companies out there, ExtenData has taken the initiative to help communities however they can. ExtenData’s efforts turned to locating healthcare and food distribution centers, that had staff working on the front lines. They also reached out to SugarHouse Industries, that recently shifted their business from awning and boat cover manufacturers, to include producing face shields and masks to help the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ExtenData began their philanthropic work by asking the public to help them find organizations whose employees needed masks and/or shields. They wanted to learn about the organizations on the front line as quickly as possible, in order to get the supplies to those most in need. As information has poured in, SugarHouse has started to fill orders that are being sent out all over the United States. Some of those masks and shields will be going to healthcare workers right here in Utah. IHC and the University of Utah will be among the recipients to benefit from ExtenData’s goodwill.

What made ExtenData answer the call to help those on the front line? Georgia Brown, Director of Marketing at ExtenData shared, “Supporting our customers, staff, partners, and community is a core value that compels us to help where we can. Using our connections throughout the global supply chain to connect supply with demand is a logical route and right in our wheelhouse. In good times we make visibility and tracking solutions through hardware and software technology. Right now, we are using those same skills, connections, and knowledge to support the people on the front line doing the hard work and putting themselves at risk.”

ExtenData and SugarHouse Industries will continue to work together to protect those who are working so diligently to keep us safe, protected and fed. If you would like to join ExtenData in their efforts through donation or partnership, please contact Georgia Brown via email at marketing@extendata.com.
