WARNING:
Louvered roof systems are primarily designed to protect against the damaging and harsh rays of the sun and from the rain. They are not intended for use in extreme weather conditions. To maximize the longevity of your system, always leave your louvers in the open position and disable any automatic control systems when:
- You will be away from home for an extended period.
- Heavy, driving, freezing rain, or frost is expected. Motor, louver, and frame damage can occur by attempting to open the louvers when they are frozen.
- Heavy snowfall is expected. Motor, louver, and frame damage can occur by attempting to open the louvers when a heavy snow load is present. SugarHouse Industries does not cover damage caused by operating the louvered roof system in inclement weather. Should damage occur however, we can typically replace most individual components.
OPERATION:
- Operating the louvered roof system is extremely simple. Use the remote to open and close the louvers and stop them at any position in between using the center button. The motor is preset to fully open and close the unit at the press of the directional button.
- If the rain sensor senses moisture, the louvers will close automatically. (To disable this feature simply disconnect the sensor from its power source.)
CARE:
- Keep gutters clear and free from debris to ensure consistent water flow.
- Leave the louvers in the vertical (open) position during heavy snow.
- Disconnect the rain sensor’s power source to prevent the sensor from closing the system automatically if weather dictates or if you will be away from the unit for extended periods of time.
- Keep shrubbery and vines away from your shade product. (Some plants secrete acids that can damage the finish and erode metallic parts.)
HARDWARE:
- The powder coated metal components and profiles of your system should be cleaned at least twice annually to prevent the finish from staining. Wash with tepid water and a mild detergent (automotive soaps and detergents work well), and rinse with a standard garden hose. Buildup of dirt on these surfaces reduces the life of the powder coating.
- Hinges, joints, and bearings should not require any lubrication. However, if lubricants are applied, they should be a non-staining silicone lubrication.
CLEANING:
- For moderate dirt, use a standard garden hose and a soft bristle brush if needed. An automotive brush would work for this.
- For tougher dirt, use a mixture of 1/3 cup detergent mixed with 1 gallon of water.
- For cleaning mildew, we recommend using a multi-surface cleaning solution from your local store. Mildew is usually caused when they system has not been regularly cleaned.
CAUTION:
- Do not operate in freezing weather. If frozen, wait until it has thawed naturally before operating the system.
- Do not power wash the louvers. Use a standard garden hose to rinse.
- Do not subject your louvered roof system to direct flames.
