SugarHouse Industries, Utah’s largest manufacturer of awnings, boat tops and custom canvas covers has converted its industrial cutting and sewing machines for the purpose of producing much needed Personal Protective Equipment for Utah’s healthcare workers.
SugarHouse is making face shields out of the same marine-grade vinyl they use to make windows for boat enclosures. Face shields protect the eyes, nose and mouth from aerosols, spray and splatter. Their wrap-around design provides over-the-top, side and front face protection, extending the life of much-needed N95 face masks.
In addition, the company’s industrial sewing machines are capable of producing thousands of face masks daily. “Our employees are making a meaningful difference in our community,” said Mike Peterson, President of SugarHouse Industries. “We are a local, family-owned business. We want to help our Utah family fight against this terrible pandemic.”
Media Availability: SugarHouse is offering tours of its manufacturing facility to the media on Thursday, March 26, 2020, 9am – 2pm. Mike Peterson, President of SugarHouse, Ind. will conduct the tour and be available to answer questions.
SugarHouse Ind. has served its clients in the Intermountain West since 1941. In that time, we have become Utah’s largest provider of awning, boat tops and specialty canvas covers. After nearly 80 years, our focus is still to provide customers with the highest quality products and the best prices. We remain a family-owned company, and we remain committed to putting a personal touch into everything we do. That’s why we make every product that we offer in our 30,000 ft2 facility in Midvale, Utah.
